Jakarta – PT MMS Group Indonesia berhasil meraih penghargaan dalam kategori Impact: Sustainable Impact in Community Green Growth at the Mata Lokal Fest 2025 event held by Tribunnews at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta on Thursday (May 8). The award was given for the success of the Lung Anai Chocolate House initiative in empowering indigenous communities, particularly women, and promoting conservation. cultural heritage community-based chocolate farming and processing practices in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan.

The Lung Anai Chocolate House program was initiated by MMSGI subsidiary PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), in cross-sector collaboration with the Lalut Isau Farmers Group, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and the Kutai Kartanegara Plantation Office. MHU also involved the Nusantara Madani Village Care Foundation and the Faculty of Agriculture at Kutai Kartanegara University, which provided assistance and training to the community in processing cocoa into packaged chocolate.

Lung Anai Chocolate House has a cocoa plantation managed by around 50 farmer members, covering a total of approximately 100 hectares. On average, a farmer manages two hectares of land and earns around Rp 30,000 per kilogram (kg) of raw cocoa beans. Local cocoa beans are processed into value-added products, from chocolate bars to cocoa powder. Furthermore, Lung Anai Chocolate House also serves as a training center for cultivation and processing techniques, as well as an agro-tourism destination for visitors.

As a result of this program, Lung Anai cocoa farmers have seen their incomes increase three to fourfold. Furthermore, women's involvement in the cocoa trade, particularly in processing, has increased. This chocolate program has also received praise from various parties, including the East Kalimantan Provincial Government.

Wiwin Suhartanto, Division Head of Mining Support and Compliance at MHU, stated that this award was not solely the result of the work of one party, but rather the collaboration of all stakeholders.

“Rumah Cokelat Lung Anai adalah bukti nyata bahwa pemanfaatan lahan secara produktif dapat berjalan seiring dengan upaya pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat adat. Program ini telah membuka peluang usaha baru, meningkatkan keterampilan warga, dan pada saat yang sama turut menjaga keseimbangan lingkungan. Penghargaan ini memotivasi kami untuk terus memperkuat komitmen terhadap keberlanjutan,” ujar Wiwin.

Meanwhile, MMSGI Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sendy Greti, explained that through MHU, MMSGI strives to create solutions for the future.
